101 Water Ambassadors: River Serenade 2025
-
ABQ, NM Saturday and Sunday ongoing May through August 2025

Miami, FL, Saturday and Sunday, ongoing September through April 2025
Project history, 2010
Rooted in authentic grassroots organizing, The Inheritants Project has worked to unite the broader community in a collective effort to preserve the historic Little River—bird sanctuary and sacred breeding ground for manatees. Collaborating with local artists and community partners, the project amplifies a powerful message of action and resolution in response to the community’s trash crisis. The annual serenade, performed by the women of the community during this day of service, pays tribute to the river’s rich history.
The Inheritants Project further engages the community with traditional Afro-Indigenous water blessings, climate change education, water table awareness, and stewardship of land and wildlife across Florida’s waterways and the Middle Rio Grande in Southwest New Mexico. Through strong and authentic songs, we uphold ancient traditions of praise and gratitude to the water, raising awareness of open spaces and the vital importance of protecting untouched nature.
